Testimonials

These are two testimonials on Cranial Osteopathy  written by patients of Hilary Percival

Therese, Aged 2

Therese’s mum says: “Therese was a breach baby, and when she was born, her legs were so wonky they would not meet properly. As she grew and developed, we noticed that nothing about Therese was quite `straight`. Her teeth came through at every angle. She took a long time to walk, and when she did start was terribly wobbly. She also got unreasonably angry, far beyond the anger one would expect in a baby.

“When we took Therese to be assessed at Kendal House Clinic, Hilary diagnosed that her whole body was out of alignment, due to her incorrect position in the womb, and Therese’s fontanelle was one inch of centre.

“Hilary treated Therese every week for a couple of months, during which time Therese became calmer and stopped getting so angry. Her walking stabilised and her language started to develop. Her face changed shape completely as her fonanelle and her facial jaw bones became aligned. The teeth are beginning to straighten, but, of course this will take time. She is now a happy and content baby.”

Gregory, Aged 16:

All my life I have suffered from chronic ear infections and, as a result of these, poor hearing. I had to take courses of antibiotics about four or five times a year, until a doctor recommended I try cranial osteopathy. I am also dyslexic, and have always found it very difficult to concentrate. I experienced a lot of anger and often lost my temper. I was 15 years old when I saw Hilary for the first time. Immediately after the first treatment, it was as though a huge pressure had been released in my head. I felt much calmer, and as though the anger had dissipated.

“Since then, I have found it much easier to concentrate, to focus on my work and to see things in perspective. My ear problems have ceased altogether, and I have not had one ear infection since the treatment. It would have been wonderful if we had known of this earlier and all those years of physical and emotional discomfort could have been avoided! I would like to thank Hilary for the new person I have become.”

DEALING WITH MIGRAINE WITH ACUPUNCTURE
Written by a patient of Anna Krypczyk

I’d been suffering from migraines for over seven years following a snowboarding accident that dislocated my shoulder and injured my neck.  I was affected at least twice a week and had noticed that the severity was increasing as was the amount of painkillers that I was regularly taking.

During an attack I would suffer from diarrhoea, vomiting, and neuralgia and that’s before we even got to the severe headaches! Enough was enough and I knew I had to take action other than relying on conventional painkillers.

My partner had suffered from lower back problems for a number of years until she had gone to Kendal House for a treatment with Anna Krypczyk. She immediately recommended that I get a treatment as she had found Anna to be very professional and knowledgeable. However, I’m not fond of needles and kept putting if off.

The turning point was when I was in a remote part of the Himalayas with a severe migraine that left me almost screaming in pain. I was almost out of painkillers, there were no shops nearby and it dawned on me that if it took someone sticking needles in me for an hour a week to feel better then it had to be better than this! I booked myself in for a treatment as soon as I returned.

The initial session involved a lengthy discussion about the nature of my migraines and any other health issues that I had. I was impressed about how thorough this was and found it good to talk in detail about the attacks. Then it came to the actual acupuncture. I hadn’t realised how nervous I was until I was lying on the treatment table and I could feel my legs shaking. Luckily, I didn’t need to be worried and Anna, seeing that I was so nervous, really helped me through that first session.

The following day I had a migraine. However, it was much reduced and only required one set of painkillers to stop a full attack. This hadn’t happened for years and I just hoped it wasn’t a false dawn.

It wasn’t. I’ve been going for around five months now and rarely get a headache any more, let alone a migraine. My quality of life has improved dramatically; I have more energy, I’m happier and I’m not living in constant fear of having an attack. Even my sceptical work colleagues have noticed the difference in me.

I don’t worry about going to acupuncture anymore. The sensation of the needles going in, whilst not pleasant, is not at all painful. There are times when you do feel a sharp sensation but this is only for a split second and is gone before you know it. I’ve even got to the stage where I’ve almost fallen asleep during a treatment. I only wish I’d gone sooner…
